Judit and Nelu met when they both worked for a homeless charity in London. Nelu is originally from Romania and Judit is from Hungary, so the wedding was a lovely mix of friends and family from the UK and abroad.
A church wedding was important to the happy couple. They belong to the congregation at Cross Street Baptist Church. I wanted to highlight the couple’s faith by taking a photograph of their wedding rings amongst a stack on Bibles. It tells the world that they are bonded through God.
I was also kept busy taking some nice close-up pictures of the small details that are often missed in wedding photography. For examples, the groom’s buttonhole, the bride’s lace gloves and the detailing on her wedding gown.
At the start of the ceremony Judit walked down the aisle with her mum and dad either side of her. Once she reached Nelu the couple broke out into wide grins as they greeted each other.
When it was time for the bride and groom to leave the church, instead of throwing confetti, the guests blew bubbles. They looked really pretty floating through the air.
I wanted to take some pictures of Judit and Nelu outdoors. Unfortunately, it had started to drizzle, but we were in luck. On the way to the reception we passed by Asteys Row Rock Gardens. The trees there provided the shelter we needed so I was able to get some lovely shots. I especially like the picture of Nelu with Judit standing behind him with the backdrop of lush green trees and plants.
Inside I was able to take some portrait shots of Judit to show off her gorgeous dress and her bouquet of white roses.
At the reception the couple took part in a Mr and Mrs type game. They each had to answer a question about each other. They held up a woman’s shoe if the answer was Judit and a man’s shoe if the answer was Nelu. It was very entertaining and got everyone laughing. You can find this game and others for weddings here.
After the games Judit and Nelu cut the cake and raised a glass to their guests. After that it was time for the first dance and then the reception began in full swing. The hall was decorated with string lights which created a romantic atmosphere and allowed me to capture some tender moments.
I had a great day and I hope that Judit and Nelu enjoy their wedding photographs for many years to come.
