The problem with living in the UK is that you can never depend on the weather. The day Sherine and Shaun were married was a typical English summer day, bright spells with rain.
Funnily enough, it didn’t spoil the day at all and in fact, I think it added to the magic. Sherine and Shaun had a big wedding surrounded by family and friends.
There were eleven bridesmaids, including their three daughters, three flower girls, one, page boy and eight ushers.
The couple were married at the prestigious Froyle Park, which is a luxury country estate in Alton, Hampshire. We started the day by taking photographs of the bride getting ready. I enjoyed taking the photograph of Sherine with her mum and friend making some final touches. I also managed to capture two of the flower girls saying prayers, which was very touching.
Sherine looked stunning in her off-the-shoulder gown with its beautiful long veil. The groom wore a stylish suit of two-tone grey and the groomsmen all wore grey suits and black bow ties.
The wedding took place in the gardens at Froyle Park, the ceremony was held under a Victorian type Dome which featured a decked seating area for the guests who sat under a slightly rainy sky. As Sherine walked up to the Dome the music was provided by a harpist who filled the air with soft music.
I think the photographs I took of the guests protecting themselves from the weather, especially the two women snuggled under a coat really capture the love and care the guests had for the happy couple.
The outside ceremony was beautiful and despite the weather, I was able to get plenty of good photographs. The gardens surrounding the dome at Froyle Park make a lovely backdrop for wedding photos.
After the wedding ceremony, the guests made their way into the function room which was decorated in elegant gold and yellow detail. I took the opportunity to get some shots of Sherine and Shaun alone in the entrance to the ballroom and on the wooden staircase inside the building.
There were a few tears throughout the speeches which were emotional and heartfelt and after the meal, the bride and groom cut their 4-tiered wedding cake which Sherine and Shaun tasted before it was sliced and sent out to the rest of the guests.
By this time the rain had stopped so Sherine and Shaun came back out with me to the Dome for some very atmospheric photographs as the daylight slowly began to fade.
My favourite photos of the day are of the bride and groom laughing happily during the reception and of the children sitting patiently on the floor waiting for the end of the photo shoot.
It was a beautiful wedding and a lovely happy day. I hope Sherine and Shaun enjoy the memories I’ve captured for many, many years to come.
