If there’s one thing that’s important to a wedding photographer is recommendations and feedback.
The recommendation to photograph this wedding came from two couples who used me as their professional wedding photographer too. One couple was Kwame and Vince and another one, Sherine and Shaun whose wedding I documented at the Froyle Park Country Estate last year. Two guests at that wedding were Irene and Richard who took a great interest in my work and for a good reason. They asked me to photograph their wedding in February. It was a great pleasure.
The wedding ceremony took place at Our Lady of the Holy Souls RC Church in West London. It was beautifully decorated with stained glass windows and an ornate altar. It provided the perfect backdrop for the wedding photographs which had to be taken indoors because of the below-freezing temperature outside.
I started the day with Irene getting ready and I included some artistic shots of the bride’s accessories which included her earrings and shoes. I especially like the black and white photograph of the interior door with the T-shirt hanging on the door handle and the crucifix and the two crosses on chains above it.
Irene looked stunning in her fitted wedding dress, which was backless and showed off her tattoo. Irene had five bridesmaids wearing dark blue dresses and faux fur stoles to keep them warm.
Richard looked handsome in blue, as did his five groomsmen. He had a very special best man. It was the couple’s 14-year-old son.
Irene also had two very sweet flower girls, one of whom I captured with a cheeky look on her face during the ceremony.
I was lucky to be able to take so many nice photographs in the church, especially Richards emotional reaction to seeing Irene walk down the aisle towards him.
After the ceremony, everyone made their way to the Amadeus – wedding venue in London, where I joined them for more wedding photography. Everyone enjoyed good food and wine. The room was decorated with plenty of string lights which created a romantic atmosphere. I took the opportunity to take more photographs and my favourite is the glamorous shot of Irene leaning backwards in Richard’s arms while they are kissing. It looks gorgeous with the backdrop of string lights.
I stayed until the evening reception to capture the couple’s first dance and the whole day was wonderful. I was also delighted to receive this feedback from the happy couple which I really appreciate, and it reminds me why I love my job.
Irene wrote:
“Richard and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for doing such a wonderful job, not only on our wedding day but all the preparation leading up to our big day. All our correspondence was easy and stress-free, and your suggestions were always helpful and welcomed.
From our first meeting with you, we knew we wanted you to capture our wedding day not only because of the wonderful recommendation from Winnie and Vincent, your work but because of your friendly and professional approach, which has remained throughout the planning and even more so on our wedding day.
Richard and I were extremely happy and impressed, as were our guests who commented on how smoothly you moved around the Church and venue without being intrusive, something Richard and I really appreciated.”
I am so glad they enjoyed their day and I hope they will treasure the photographs for the rest of their lives.
