Alena and Barry’s wedding was a lot of fun. They were surrounded by family and friends who were determined to make the day happy and memorable. And, they did.
I caught up with Alena at the Double Tree by Hilton in Kingston-Upon Thames. She was getting ready for her big day accompanied by her niece. She looked beautiful in her short-sleeved scalloped V-neck design with its gorgeous train. Her bridesmaids too looked stunning in matching blue dresses and silver shoes which co-ordinated perfectly with the groomsmen’s grey suits and the groom’s blue suit.
I was able to take some photographs of Alena and the details that went with her wedding gown, like her own blue shoes, the bridesmaids and wedding flowers. But, what was especially touching was the lovely letter Alena received from her niece.
Next, it was time to take some photographs at the Church. The ceremony was held at St. Thomas’s Church in Telford Park. Here I captured some great shots of Barry which really shows off his happy, cheeky character. You could tell that he was overjoyed to be marrying Alena and he didn’t seem to suffer from any wedding day nerves.
Inside the church, I took more photos. I like the one where everyone has turned away from the altar to watch the Maid of Honour as she walked through the door. Everybody that is except for one member of Alena’s family who made a quick check on the young flower girl and the pageboy who were sitting at the front.
The atmosphere inside the church was emotional and Alena had to wipe away a few tears as she walked down the aisle with her father. There were a good few children at the wedding and the little boy with the toy dinosaur caught my attention. He had a great time pretending to feed his dinosaur with the flower girls posy and later from the food at the reception.
There were some funny moments too. A guest that roared with glee and Alena’s father stepping up to a microphone that was just too high.
After the ceremony, Alena and Barry came outside the church for some pictures, together with their guests. I like the picture of Alena and Barry posing with the bridesmaids and the groomsmen. I also enjoyed taking photos of the guests taking selfies and the flower girls collecting the white paper confetti hearts from off the ground.
After the ceremony, it was off to the reception back at the Double Tree by Hilton. It was there I bumped into Grace and Kwame. I was their wedding photographer too and it was nice to see them both again. There was also my another couple Wyn Nii and Vince – I photographed their wedding a few years earlier.
They weren’t the only people I had met again at this wedding either. I was also lucky enough to find myself working alongside Roger – Videographer from Diamond Films and Noble who was the Master of Ceremony on the day. Here you can find pictures of other weddings with Noble being the Master of Ceremony.
The reception room was decorated with a white and green theme, with pretty table pieces and candles dotted around. There was a great treat for sweet lovers as Alena and Barry had a Candy Table and it was full of jars and bowls of brightly coloured sweet treats.
Everybody enjoyed their food and the children watched with amazement as Alena and Barry cut their 3-tiered white cake with pink flowers. After this, I tempted the happy couple to come outside for some more photographs of just the two of them.
My favourite shot is the one where they are walking through the brickwork passageway with the metal railing above them and the single wall light providing the light and shade.
Once the reception had finished it was time to dance the night away and after capturing the couple taking their first dance it was time for me to leave.
I know Alena and Barry will treasure the photographs in their wedding album and I hope they look back with fond memories of their big day forever.
