They say good things come in small packages and the intimate wedding of Michelle and Adam certainly proved this to be true. Everything about the day was wonderful, shared with a small party of family and friends.
Once again although I am a wedding photographer from Surrey, I found myself in London. The civil ceremony took place at Mayfair Library in Westminster, where a nervous looking Adam waited for Michelle to arrive. Once she was beside him he didn’t stop smiling and nor did Michelle who looked full of joy throughout the day.
The couple made a handsome pair with Adam in a smart blue suit with a pink tie and matching pink flower in his lapel. Michelle looked gorgeous in a wedding gown from The Bridal Gallery in London. I’ve had the great pleasure of photographing many brides wearing beautiful dresses from that establishment.
I started off by taking a close-up shot of the wedding rings which had been placed on top of an old leather-bound book. I then went on to photograph Michelle and Adam and their guests throughout the service.
As it was a pleasant day we were able to go outside, and we went over to a near-by park to capture some outside shots. The palm tree in the centre of the park was the perfect backdrop for some lovely photographs of Michelle and Adam. We also went across to the Memorial Garden in Grosvenor Square Garden and took some more shots underneath the magnificent gazebo they have there.
Then it was time to leave for the reception. Michelle and Adam had chosen an unusual and original way to transport their guests from one place to another. They hired a red double decker bus and the services of Richard Sutton, a blue badge tourist information guide. We were treated to an hour’s journey passing interesting places while Richard gave us a detailed explanation of what we were seeing. This especially delighted Michelle family, most of whom had come over from the United States, where Michelle is from.
The reception was held at the stunning wedding venue – The White Swan in London. It had a mirrored ceiling which reflected the couple standing in front of the large ‘Love’ sign and made a really great photograph. Another picture which became a favourite was the one where Michelle and Adam are kissing in front of the delighted wedding co-ordinator, Nikki, who was a pleasure to work with.
Everybody had a fantastic fun day and I really enjoyed myself. I am sure that the happy couple will treasure their photographs. They told me afterwards that “The pictures were great and just what we wanted.”
