As I was setting off to the outskirts of Worthing the weather was reported to be heavy rain with strong winds. Well, I thought, it will be indoor shots then for Helen and Michal’s wedding.
I arrived at where Helen was staying, which was a small hotel a few miles from the Venue. She was surrounded by her mum, her bridesmaids and the maid of honour. They all looked happy and were obvious ly looking forward to the day ahead.
The wedding was taking place at Long Furlong Barn which is located in the South Downs National Park, close to Worthing in West Sussex. The barn is set amongst some gorgeous countryside which matched very well with the Autumn wedding theme. The barn was decorated in tones of red and brown and there were lots of natural details like the numbers carved on the chopped tree and the home-made olive oil.
Michal and the guests gathered in the barn while the flower girl scattered petals on the floor. Helen looked serene as she walked towards Michal and she looked beautiful in her shoulderless gown and long veil from the Bridal Gallery in London. I had a pleasure to photograph many more brides wearing beautiful wedding dresses from the bridal gallery.
After the ceremony the couple were covered in confetti and they looked happy as they made their way into the reception area for canapes and Champagne before everyone took their seats.
It was at this time that Helen and Michal decided they would brave the wind and we’d go outside to see if we could get some shots before the rain started again. The photographs turned out really well especially as the grey clouds gave them a dramatic atmosphere. My favourite picture is of the couple kissing each other with the rolling hills in the background and a rainbow in the sky up above them. We got soaked running back to the reception, but the pictures were well-worth getting wet for!
After that everyone sat down to eat. The room looked stunning as it had curved roof beams and traditional limestone which enhanced the rustic feel. During the speeches there were some tears from Helen and the guests as some heartfelt words were spoken. I captured Helen with a tear rolling down her cheek, which I hope will be a treasured moment for the couple.
The whole day was lovely. Michal had friends over from Poland which made the best day of his life even more special. I hope that Helen and Michal will treasure the photographs I took for them and the memories they will bring back.
As you can see, although I am a photographer based in Surrey I am willing to travel to other areas and I often photograph weddings in London. If you would like me to photograph your wedding, please have a look at my website and get in touch with me by filling in the form on the contact page.
