Sometimes Autumn and Winter weddings are a worry because you can’t depend on the weather. However, we were lucky at Marta Jamie’s wedding in Merton because it was a lovely sunny October day without a rain cloud in the sky.
The wedding was intimate and informal. Marta is originally from Poland and her parents had flown over especially for the wedding and Jamie has Scottish roots and to celebrate this they had a Scottish Piper playing before the ceremony and again when they entered the restaurant for the reception.
Although the bride and groom took centre stage, the real star of the show was their two-year old son, Joshua who had a great day with mum and dad and tried to be patient.
The ceremony was held at the Merton Registry Office in Surrey, which has a beautiful setting and is a popular location. I have been lucky to be wedding photographer here on many occasions in the past.
Jamie became quite emotional when his bride came into the room at the start of the ceremony, which was a touching moment. There is a lovely black and white photograph of the couple with Marta looking up at James as she approaches him and the Registrar.
Joshua didn’t want to leave his mum’s side, so he sat her knee while the couple took their vows. I especially like the photograph of Marta smiling broadly as her wedding ring is placed on her finger by Jamie. There’s also a lovely shot of Joshua making himself busy by signing the register too with mum and dad.
After the ceremony we got some nice pictures outdoors. The bride and groom were happy for me to click away and results were that we got some nice natural photographs as well as some posed shots. I got a beautiful shot of Marta under a tree in the grounds of Merton Registry Office and a few of Jamie and Joshua together in their matching blue suits. Joshua looked very handsome in his little waistcoat.
The reception took place at the White Onion Restaurant which is a French Restaurant located in Wimbledon Village. Here the guests enjoyed a delicious meal and of course enjoyed a slice of the delicious wedding cake.
My favourite pictures of the day are of Marta, Jamie and Joshua watching the Scottish Piper. They look so contented and complete as a family. Another photograph I particularly like is of the happy couple kissing each other across the table at the restaurant. I took the photograph from outside the restaurant and I think it captures the moment perfectly.
The whole day was filled with happiness and laughter and the couple clearly enjoyed sharing their special day with their son.
