There are two great pleasures in being a wedding photographer. One is meeting lovely people at a happy event and the other is being able to work in beautiful surroundings.
The wedding of Natalia and Daniel was no exception. The wedding took place at the Holland Park Orangery in Kensington. It’s a glass and stone palace which is now used as a gallery and events location. It’s set in the grounds of Holland Park and so as you can imagine it’s the perfect place to get married.
I began the day by capturing images of the guests as they waited for the ceremony to begin. A guitarist was playing popular music as the guests arrived and this created a nice relaxing atmosphere.
Natalia and Daniel had two ushers and four bridesmaids, they all looked stylish dressed in blue. Natalia looked stunning in her white wedding dress which came from London Bride Couture. You’ll see in one of my pictures that she decided against traditional wedding shoes and instead, sensibly decided that white trainers were a much more comfortable option!
She walked down the aisle in between her mum and dad to where Daniel was waiting with a big smile on his face. Natalia too smiled broadly throughout the day. They both looked very happy and contented.
After the ceremony I got a nice photograph of the couple with the bridesmaids and Daniel’s ushers, making a toast with champagne. Then Natalia and Daniel came outside for some shots of the two of them.
The orangery is a gorgeous setting, so I was able to get plenty of lovely photographs of Natalia and Daniel together. The trees with their gnarled branches made for an interesting backdrop. As we were taking more photographs we suddenly spotted a peacock strutting along. I was able to get a photo of Natalia and Daniel embracing with the peacock, it’s feathers streaming behind it, in the foreground.
We then made our way to a location that is close to the couple’s hearts. We went back to the school where they met. The dark red double doors with the pillars either side of the steep stone steps made the photograph of the two of them particularly striking. They had told me beforehand that this was a photograph they really wanted, so I was happy to oblige.
Next, it was off to the reception which was held at the Heist Bank Restaurant and Bar in Paddington. There I was able to take photographs during the speeches. They were very emotional and at one-point, Natalia began to cry, but she was soon back to her smiling self. I also took a picture of the naked wedding cake topped with fresh cream roses which had been made by a friend of the couple.
After that, I made myself busy capturing the couple and their guests having fun on the dance floor. It was decorated with lots and lots of string lights which always create a romantic atmosphere.
I had a great day and I hope Natalia and Daniel will look at their photographs to bring back treasured memories.
